My
initial reaction to my partners contemporary Elizabethan design is that it was
a subtle and simple take on traditional Elizabethan make-up and hair with
modern influences. She had chosen a complimentary colour scheme of green and
red which reminded me of the Elizabethans, as red was considered to be a royal
colour, and my partner had designed her face chart with red cheeks and lips
which are very much Elizabethan inspired, and the gold detailing in the make-up
also reminded me of the richness and royalty in the Elizabethan era. My main concerns about creating the look were
that the make-up was very simplistic so had to be executed very precisely and
well as any mistakes would show up very obviously, such as a slightly wonky lip
line or if the eye shadow wasn’t blended around the edges enough. I was also
slightly nervous at first about doing the mascara as I initially found it
difficult getting right to the root but after practice I now feel comfortable
doing it. If it was my design I would have probably put more gold in the
eyelashes to really make the eyes look bright and stand out. I could have
perhaps improved my make-up application by doing a slightly finer gold line
under the brow like I had done previously when practicing the make-up, and by
slightly intensifying the green shadows on the eye.
